stories.
Original stories in development and release, from feature films to novels to digital series.
— THE STUDIO
Northrup Studios was founded on a simple conviction: stories matter. Not just as entertainment, but as the way we make sense of who we are, where we've been, and where we're going.
Based in Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley, we're an independent film studio and creative consultancy led by Graham Northrup — a writer, producer, director, and educator with an MFA in Directing from Baylor University and decades of experience bringing stories to life on stage and screen.
We produce values-forward science fiction and genre films that explore what it means to be human in extraordinary circumstances. We also offer boutique production services for brands, businesses, and fellow creators who believe their stories deserve to be told with craft and intention.
And because we believe the next generation of storytellers deserves real, practical guidance, we teach. Through courses, workshops, and one-on-one mentorship, we help filmmakers, directors, writers, and actors sharpen their craft and build sustainable careers.
Graham’s inspiration often comes from his businesswoman and artist wife, Stephanie, and from his five beautiful, creative, and dynamic daughters.

— what we stand for

Every decision we make starts with the story. If it doesn't serve the story, it doesn't make the cut. Full stop.

We believe in doing the work. Beautiful cinematography, thoughtful editing, authentic performances. No corners cut.

We make stories that are morally grounded without being moralistic. Stories that entertain, inspire, and respect the audience.

We share what we know. We support other creators. We'd rather build a fleet than go it alone.
— THE filmmaker
Graham Northrup is a writer, producer, director, and educator with a Master of Fine Arts in Directing from Baylor University. His career spans live theatre, independent film, branded content, and education — with a throughline of storytelling mastery and an unwavering commitment to craft.
He's directed plays, musicals, cabarets, and special events. He's produced a feature film (An Aspen Christmas Conspiracy), and he's currently developing a slate of original sci-fi and genre projects including the feature film Frostbite and the novel Dragonborne. He also leads workshops and courses for early-career filmmakers, directors, and actors.
When he's not on set or at the keyboard, you'll find him somewhere in the mountains of Western Colorado, probably thinking about the next story....
